Frequently asked questions

What is an optimal portfolio?

It's the mix of assets that, according to a mathematical model, offers the best balance between expected return and risk based on historical data. It's optimal according to the model and its assumptions — not a guarantee or a personal recommendation.

Is it free?

Yes. QuantMundi is free and you don't need to create an account. We're funded by advertising.

Which assets can I use?

More than 1,300 stocks and ETFs: S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Euro Stoxx 50, FTSE 100, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Canada, the main exchanges of Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Argentina, Latin American ADRs, and global, country, bond and gold ETFs.

Which currency is it calculated in?

The one you choose: USD, EUR, MXN, BRL, CLP, COP, PEN or ARS. Every price is converted at each day's exchange rate, so currency risk is built into the calculation.

Which optimization methods do you use?

Maximum Sharpe, minimum variance, target return, target risk, Hierarchical Risk Parity (HRP) and equal weights as a benchmark. We use Ledoit-Wolf shrinkage covariance and a robust estimator of expected returns.

Is this investment advice?

No. It's an educational and simulation tool. Results rely on past data, and past performance does not guarantee future results. Before investing, consider your own situation and, if needed, talk to a licensed adviser.
